LinkedIn Posts on Product Development

I’ve  tried to shortcut my learning process. I notice people I perceive as being more capable or competent than I am as being better than I am.

When those moments happen, my brain immediately starting trying to find the fastest route to catch up to that person.

Much of this comes from my own insecurities, poor self-perception, and experienced trauma.

That statement above is why I chose the graphic below:

“Don’t let life discourage you. Everyone who got where he is, had to begin where he was.” – Richard L. Evans

I had a hard conversation with a colleague on Friday about learning a new skill set. I’m under no illusion that my journey will be challenging.

There will be tempting short-cuts in my learning process. However, if I’m going to learn what I need to, I’ll need to resist the temptation to cut corners.

Please cheer me on!

I spilled coffee in the parking lot this morning.

Yeah, I’m having a “Monday” on Thursday. I was more than a bit put off by sharing my go juice with the curb.

I went through my normal routine of tidying up our common area. This includes prepping coffee for my colleagues.

I was scrolling through my posts and was inspired by Milford Beagle, Jr (“Beags”).

Leadership is a behavior, not a title.

The easiest way to demonstrate leadership is through small acts. Brewing coffee, cleaning up after a brainstorming session, or following up with the team to remove impediments to work.

What do you think of this quote?

“People solving problems for people?”

I’m asking because this seems like a theme I’m using to explain the core of what I’m about. As well, it’s part of what we’re about at Improving.

Solving complex problems requires many tools and EMPATHY. When we skip over empathy for our fellow human beings, we sometime lose focus.

Product development is, at its heart, about solving complex problems. If we’re not asking what pain our products solve, then we’re missing critical feedback opportunities.

That brings me to the photo below.

The prototype flashcard boxes my colleagues printed are solving problems for our team. We’re all delighted by being part of an iterative process that is becoming a point where people are pulled into the conversation about how we work together.
