What problems could you be solving today?

At times, I feel overwhelmed by the simple question above. For me, it is a matter of belief.

Unbelief is so powerful for most of us that we’re ashamed to admit it is preventing us from moving forward in our work.

“Believe you can, AND you’re halfway there.” – Theodore Roosevelt

That’s one of the secrets of cross-functional teams. They can move past individual unbelief and create collective belief.

Collective belief helps solve problems.

If your team or business is stuck, please let me know. We have folks at Improving that can assist you with finding freedom from unbelief.

How much are you leveraging competitive and market intelligence in product development?

IMO, there isn’t anything wrong with learning what products might work best for you. Likewise, it might be foolish to bypass the opportunity to have artificial intelligence help you identify your competitor in the product development space.

Artificial intelligence can create an advantage to product-centric organizations. Know how to use AI is a key to creating a strategy around the use of market and competitive intelligence.

If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of “prompt engineering” in the use of AI, please let me know.

In parallel, if you are looking for knowledgable coaches that can assist your product teams, I know a person or two who can assist with that.

When is the right time to be disorderly?

I don’t know, but I suspect it’s when all the work being done becomes less about value and more about getting it done.

“One of the advantages of being disorderly is that you are constantly making exciting discoveries.” – A. A. Milne

Discovery is the lifeblood of product development. Without it, new products would not be created, and existing products would not be improved.

When was the last time your teams sat down with clients, customers, and stakeholders to ask if the backlog is focused on delivering the right value at the right time?

We’re early in 2024, maybe it’s time to be disorderly and have a hard conversation around the work we plan to complete this year.
