LinkedIn Posts on Product Development

For my connections in product development, how do you feel about assessing and testing your work early in the development cycle?

I spoke with Scott Thompson yesterday about moving testing left.

We discussed how building quality products is a team responsibility, not a testing function.

If your teams are struggling to get quality work completed and into the hands of clients and customers, please let me know.

Another year complete, another pair of Brooks to retire.

For the last three years, I have set a goal to walk several hundred miles. Normally, that was done deliberately in a single pair of shoes.

As you might note in the photos below, I’m not easy on my shoes. I buy quality shoes that can go the distance.

Brooks understands its customers. They are primarily runners, so their shoes and clothing focus on running.

Being deliberately customer-focused is what makes good companies great companies. Understanding who your customers are and how to improve their lives creates lasting relationships.

Here are some MORE tips for product development.

💡 Understand that failure is learning
💡 Learn the difference between cooperation and collaboration
💡 Create personas for the ideal customer to focus on the right work
💡 Choose using a platform versus building from scratch
💡 Provide low fidelity prototypes over high fidelity “finished” products

Product development is a journey. Work to continuously improve the product as the journey progresses.
