A meeting of the mind happened before the workday began today in the Dallas Improving office.
I won’t bore you with the conversation details.
The highlights included:
Artificial intelligence
Data privacy
Cybersecurity
. . . and other related points on product development.
It is a wonderful moment when a number of smart people gather in the same room to discuss concerns around “changing the perception of the IT profession.”
P.S. What do your teams discuss over coffee before the workday begins?
I asked for permission to take the photos below.
Why? You might be wondering.
I deeply respect my colleagues, and they were focused on a 2024 initiative. I did not want to interrupt their concentration.
What my fellow Improvers were doing is easily explained by our core value of Involvement.
“Our success is a consequence of our collective involvement.”
These photos represent people from across our Dallas Improving office and corporate functions working together.
If you are interested in what they were doing, send me a message.

P.S. What do you think these Improvers are up to?
The last two evenings challenged me.
Monday evening was a learning challenge with Ravi Verma (PST, CPCC, CRP) and Mike Torrence. The ROI-Based Agile Coaching monthly meetup is always an event that causes me to stretch my professional growth.
Tuesday evening was about connecting with young executives and fellow professionals at the Success North Dallas happy hour held at OAK’D BBQ in Addison.
Happy hours are not my thing. Not inside my comfort-zone. I feel awkward when I’m in a sizeable group of people.
The good news is, I’m getting better at connecting with folks I don’t know.
These uncomfortable experiences help me remember how new product development teams feel.
Finding common ground and learning how to work with each other is challenging. In ways, it is like returning to high school (secondary school) for many of us.
Where do I fit in the group dynamic?
Will people judgement if I ask questions about things I don’t understand?
What if someone finds out that I don’t have as much experience as they “think” I have?
As a coach, I am given a gift. That gift is to help create a space for people to connect, learn, create, and build delightful products.
I cherish that gift, and I lead from my own discomfort. I don’t have the answers, I’m not a sage or a guru. Fortunately, I am delightfully human.
P.S. Have you done something or plan to do something awkward for uncomfortable this week?
