LinkedIn posts on Work – #LifeatImproving

I enjoy being part of the community. Do you like connecting with others in person and learning new insights?

The Innovators and Entrepreneurs Council met in our Dallas Improving office last night. Jeannie Lewis invited Paul Byrne to share on why startups fail.

Paul’s presentation was insightful.
He didn’t explain how to be successful as a founder.
He didn’t try to pitch a process to land new clients.

Instead, he laid out cases for why companies don’t survive in the market.

Key learning for me. The tech stack is one factor that impacts market success for SaaS startups.

P.S. If you attended the session, what other points did you note?

“Excellence is table stakes.”

Have you heard that before about what it takes to join a business, company, or organization?

The statement above is routinely spoken around the Dallas Improving office. But, excellence is only part of the story.

My colleague, Randall Dunigan, hosted our monthly game night last Friday. Several of us stayed after work to play games, and we even had family and Improving alumni join the fun.

What would cause people who work together to spend their leisure time together as well?

If you’ve been following my posts, then you probably know the answer already. Comment below with your assessments.

P.S. – If you would like to learn more about what we do at Improving, send me a message.

May I challenge you today?

May I ask you to consider viewing your teams and team members differently?

It is AMAZING to be part of a company that values people. Yes, Allana Luterman, I did write amazing in the prior sentence.

As part of an ongoing initiative at Improving, we met over lunch to discuss personal development. We try to look at people as capable, responsible, and whole, which means we don’t subscribe to the binary of “work/life”.

What happens at work influences life outside work and vice versa. Our personal development influences how we work as much as our professional development.

Consider how you look at your colleagues. Consider how you might integrate into your culture conversations around the benefits of what your co-workers are passionate about outside the business.

Who knows, you may find your team working more effectively.
